Wow! I just got back from a workout with my personal trainer. Her name is Jodi, and boy is she good, if you judge "good" as being really sore the next day. There have been a few things that I have observed about her training…. One is that she watches me very closely to make sure I’m doing things right and that I don’t hurt myself. Secondly, she always tells me up front how many times I’m going to do this exercise and then when I get there she says, “Can you do one more?” – she stretches me. Third, she always tells me how good I’m doing while I’m working out and when I finish, to make me feel good about myself.

As I was reflecting on this after my workout, trying to catch my breath, so that I wouldn’t die, I thought about the parallel between physical workouts and spiritual workouts. One is we all need to workout to stay fit. Secondly, we need someone to workout with who will watch us so we do things right and don’t get hurt. And third, we need someone who helps us accomplish even more than we thought we could by encouraging us along the way.

The summer often brings chaotic schedules but remember to stay fit spiritually – get into the Word for nourishment, Worship God with others because it’s not about you, and stay in Fellowship with your small group or another Christian friend for encouragement. Paul told Timothy this: (1 Tim.4:7, 8 Message) “Exercise daily in God—no spiritual flabbiness, please! Workouts in the gymnasium are useful, but a disciplined life in God is far more so, making you fit both today and forever. You can count on this. Take it to heart. This is why we've thrown ourselves into this venture so totally. We're banking on the living God, Savior of all men and women, especially believers.”

Have a physical and spiritually fit summer.

We've Come A Long Way, Baby!

Last Sunday a number of our church family shared stories of what God has been doing at Grace over the years. If you missed it, this video shows some of the highlights of the last 18+ years. Enjoy!

Packin' Up To Move

Well, it's summer, the kids are out of school and the Feiser’s are moving! That’s right, we are moving back to Plano. Go God!!! Our time in the country was refreshing with open space and a slower pace of life, but we felt it was time to move back into the community. Here we can be more available to people and help reach Plano families for Christ. Also, it helps with the gas prices.

We are looking forward to seeing our church family in the grocery store, shopping at the mall, and out eating (healthy food, of course.) However, if you see me at the gym working out please don’t come up and talk to me….. I’m out of shape and I don’t want to know that you are there. Not only that, I sweat a lot and I stink (ha! ha!). Our move will put us within 2 miles of the church…. So, we'll see you around town soon.

I am working on a new series for fall I am calling, "Know God, No Fear" and I'd love to hear from you. Take the poll about fear posted on the right column of my blog.
